Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of administering a combination of EM4 and molasses in a biofloc system on the growth of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and to determine the optimal dosage capable of improving aquaculture performance. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: P0 (control), P1 (15 mL/L), P2 (20 mL/L), and P3 (25 mL/L), each consisting of three replicates. The parameters observed included absolute weight gain, absolute length gain, Specific Growth Rate (SGR), productivity, Survival Rate (SR), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and water quality. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) after meeting the normality and homogeneity tests, while data that did not meet the parametric assumptions were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test at a 95% confidence level. The results of the study showed that the administration of a combination of EM4 and molasses had a significant effect (P<0.05) on absolute weight gain, absolute length, SGR, productivity, and SR, but had no significant effect on FCR (P>0.05). Treatment P3 (25 mL/L) yielded the best performance with absolute weight gain 56.33 ± 1.15 g, absolute length of 13.54 ± 0.27 cm, SGR of 4.47 ± 0.14% per day, productivity of 5,633.33 g/m², SR of 100%, and the lowest FCR of 2.64 ± 0.40. Furthermore, water quality throughout the study remained within the optimal range for tilapia farming. Thus, the administration of a combination of EM4 and molasses at a dose of 25 mL/L in a biofloc system is recommended to enhance growth and the success of tilapia farming.
